The ' officers were appointed and install-1 ed, and the new members were initiated. This being the first meeting, j there was no literary program. The girls of the high school have ! already begun practicing basket ball,?i and they hope soon to begin a series J of games. We have had considerable trouble this year getting our books and even vet there are several books that have ; not come. The Parent-Teachers'' Association met Monday, and it was decided that all pupils making an average of 90, from September till June, will be exempt from final examinations, but that all pupils will be required to stand mid-term examinations. Death of Mrs Nelson. Mrs Nelson, widow of the late! 1 John Nelson, died at her home in j the Indiantown neighborhood last Friday night at the advanced age of 78 years. Mrs Nelson, before marriage, was a Miss Snowden, a sister of Mr Per- j cy Snowden, and an aunt of Judge j John S Wilson, of Manning. Her husband died about 20 years ago. The deceased is survived by two sons, Messrs Harvey and J C Nelson, and a large circle of relatives. The funeral services took place Saturday at the Indiantown Presbyterian church, of which she was a devout member, conducted by her pastor, the Rev W R Pritchard, in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends.
