Closing Entertainment by School ?Personal Mention. Lanes, May 8:?One of the prettiest and most interesting entertainments of its kind ever enjoyed by the people of this community was the closing exercises of the Lanes graded school last Wednesday night. The auditorium was beautifully dec-! orated with ferns and vases of cut flowers, while the acting and easy manner of every pupil in the differ-1 ent scenes and the costumes worn by i them did credit to the capable teachers. Much praise is also due Miss : Helen Byrd, who presided at the piano. It would be simply impossible ; to decide which dialogue cr tableau brought forth the gn atest applause, The crowd was there to see and enjoy and was not disappointed. From Kingstree, Salters and Greelyville many friends came to hear and encourage our little band of faithful boys and girls. A school picnic was held next day at Black river, and all ?vanmarl tn pninv themselves pirjna ocvujvu W to the utmost. Mr Wayne Browder of Sumter is visiting his mother.
