NESMITH NEWS. Farmers Making Use of Good Weather?Poor Outlook for Crops Nesmith, June 21:?The farmers ef this section have been making ggod use of the beautiful weather * during the past two week by gathering their oats and wheat. Corn and tobacco seem to be having a very tough time getting over the wet weather we had some time ago. Unless tobacco takes on a different move the crop will be much shorter than was expected some time ago. I notice that Mr J F Mobley has the best piece of tobacco I have seen in this section this season. Cotton seems to be doing finely. It seems that the "people of this \ ^ community are looking forward tc the rural route that will start up the first of July We hope that it will be successful. We are glad to see another store open up on the main street of our little town. We notice a section of the county chaingang working here now, the first time in years. We all appreciate Mr Frierson's kindness in sending . then here, for the roads certainly did not get it before they needed it. The friends of W D Mobley will be sorry to hear of his sudden at * i :ii tack ot illness ana we nope ne wui soon be able to be out with us again. Mr G A Lewis was noted in this section last Saturday. Mr J E Johnson and his daughter, Miss Lillie, took a trip to Charlesv ten one day last week on business. Messrs Luther and Fred Johnson r were noted in town last Sunday, traveling in their father's handsome . Ford car. Mr G G Broadway was seen here Sunday. I ! The game was played between Benson and Indiantown and resulted in a N score of 8 to 16 in favor of Benson. Happy Boy. Shots from Saltsrs. i Salters, June 21:?The past few day have been very warm. Discussing the value of advertising the other day a business man declared that advertising on a large scale was only of use if you had a really good thing to advertise. "You must never," he said "try to rush the public into buying a bad article simply by advertising largely. They'll neither forget or forgive if you do. "Take the hen" he pointed out. "The hen is one of the greatest and most successful advertisers in the world. Every time she lays an egg she advertises the fact loudly. And that is real good advertising, for no hen ever laid a bad egg." Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. This is a remedy that every family should be provided with, and especially during the summer months. Think of the pain and suffering that must be endured when medicine must be sent for,or before relief can be obtained. This remedy is thoroughly reliable. Ask any one who has used it. Obtainable everywhere. ^ _ m / Thaw to* Have Jury Trial. Albany, N Y, June 18:?Court of appeals today upheld the order of Supreme Cfourt Justice Hendrick directing a jury trial to test the sanity of Harry K Thaw. 4 The court of appeals was unanimousvin its decision, which held that Justice Hendrick did not attempt to evade responsibility in directing a jury trial, but merely wished to obtain the advice of a jury. The decision holds that Thaw has no mandatory right to a jury trial, but that it was in the discretion of the trial Judge to decide whether such a request should be granted. Free Scholarship.
