>Ji for Convenience, r r * Entirely apart from the many other advantages of a Personal Checking Account at the Bank, the convenience of it is no small consideration. The ability to make purchases and ^ pay bills after banking hours Bl without the necessity of always having a pocketful of BKB money is worth a great deal. HI With a Check Book in your H^Lx>cket, you are taking no risks HBf losing money and yet you ^HBvays have all of your money hand and ready for use. MflHie is as liable to need money ffl^Jfore nine in the morning or IMter three as between those Burs. The Personal Check B>ok settles the matter. IK OF WILLIAMSBURG P KIN6STREE, S. C. W Stoll, Pres. We were pleased to see in town Monday our esteemed friend, Mr H J Brown of Cades. Mr Brown is just pvfpnded tour out IIVMJJC 11UI1I !*> West, which he enjoyed very much. The West is all right, our friend remarked, but nowhere is there to be found the equal of South Carolina, or Williamsburg county. With which sentiment we most heartily concur. We \vere delighted to have as a caller at our sanctum Friday of last week the jovial editor of the Southern Christian Advocate, Rev S A Nettles, who was in town in attendance upor. the district conference of the M E church,South. Our distinguished visitor paid Kingstree and her ivople a glowing compliment on her progress and hospitality. He used to live here and told us of some of his experiences hunting rabbits in this vicinity, and particularly of one wherein he killed three rabbits at one snot. The editor is sincerely grateful to the ^jnd ladies who served the veterans' dinner Memorial day for the delicious viands so kindly sent to our home. We were not able to be present at the Memorial exercises in person, but in spirit and sympathy we were with them. If the tray sent us were an index of the spread prepared by our fair patriots, we feel sure that the veterans enjoyed a feast. Everything in season was included in the menu and the cooking would have tempted the appetite of Lucullus or aroused the envy of Brillat Savarin. Memorial Day. The annual Memorial day exercises were carried out in Kingstree Saturday. The members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy served a bounteous dinner to the old soldiers who were present attending the annual meeting of Camp Pressley, United Confederate Veterans, which was held in the opera house. There were about fifty of the old vets on hand and all seemed to enjoy the occasion as a child does a Sunday-school picnic. The meeting was called to order by Commander H H Kinder, who introduced Rev P S McChesney as the speaker of the occasion. Mr McChesney's address was eloquent in style and appropriate in theme, and at its conclusion the speaker was heartily :s Mei RUNNII ?f Dry Goods, Noti e no better Shirts d. They fit bette i line. After the transaction of its routine business the camp adjourned and as a body marched into the McCabe store room, where a row of tables fairly groaned under the sumptuous feast prepared and spread for the old soldiers by their lady friends of Kingstree. After the feast a number of the veterans took a hand in firing off | the old cannon which stands on the court house green as a souvenir of the days of 1876. The firing of the old artillery piece afforded considerable amusement to the old vets and greatly dengntea tne many school children who took part in extending Kingstree's most gracious hospitality to them.
