' ? published in last ween s issue ui me Record under the nom de plume "A Fan". This is not intended as a reflection upon the Kingstree team, as they acted like gentlemen during our whole stay in their town. From the account published it iseasily seen, that the writer knows very little of the game and does not use the little knowledge he has. We wonder that he does not sign his repl name! It is plain to any fair-minded man that it is hardly possible that one pitcher would be in fine form and allow four runs, when the other was "hit to all parts of the field for seventeen hits," and yet have only five runs scored against him. Quite a reflection on his own team! A team making seventeen hits and only five runs must be composed of wooden legs and slumberers. As a matter of fact, only six balls were hit in the out-field and those six spelled our "defeat." Thanking you for giving space to this correction, I am. Yours truly, (Signed) Boyd Jeffords, Mgr.
