At this meeting it was decided that in future all meetings would be j * held at Kingstree on the 20th of < each month, and that the December 1 meeting should be held in the direct- i ors' room of the Bank of Kingstree, It is the intention of the association to promote scientific discussion . and investigation, and a paper will . be read and discussed at each meeting, the* subject to be suggested by the president. Dr E T Kelley has the honor of reading the first paper. He was formerly secretary and ably performed the duties of that office- j u'oro hplf] at Lake i iiic iijcciuigo .. City, but that section of the county ( ^fted itself into Florence county, and i with it went so many physicians j that the society disbaijijed. V The co-operation of all licensed i physicians is desired to make Wil- < liamsburg County Medical Society ;j second .to none in the State; fore- ( most in scientific research and mu- ] tually beneficial. Dr W L Wallace, < the president, is known and loved J ' throughout the county; his election i - ; was unanimous. ;} ^ A *Q,egram was received from Dr ? Allow me space to explain a petition now being circulated to the qualified \oters of Williamsburg county. Ha\ ing seen so much corruption and theft that arise from the public sale of seed cotton under the present law and having good reason to believe that intoxicating liquors are being sold under the wing of some of the so-called cotton "traps", 1 mentioned the condition to some of the best men, (or as * At 1 _ 1 J i... gooa men as me granu oiu cuunvy has ever known) and they as a unit agree that the foregoing statement is absolutely correct. Now, the corruption mentioned is not all that could be pointed, for, if you will think carefully, you will remember many other forms. Now, we would like to have the sale of seed cotton prohibited in our county and it can be done only by high license. So it was decided to circulate a petition which has been signed by ninety-five per cent of all men that have seen it. This petition is merely to get an expression of the qualified voters of Williamsburg ' ...I.. "It is a pleasure to tell you that Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is the best cough medicine I have ever used," writes Mrs Hugh Campbell, of Lavonia, Ga.
