The sermons of Mi Comann are plain and virile and n< one can hear him without receiving benefit. It is to be hoped that the spirit of his teachings will linger here long after his departure in the Hesh. Mayor L W Gilland and Mrs Gil land have returned from their trij across the ocean,having spent nearlj two months in Denmark. Tne second annual State Conference of Charities and Correction will be held at Florence, S C, December 8-9 next. The first session held at Columbia a year ago was highly interesting and brought together for conference and discussion the representative philanthropic workers of our State. It is hoped that all persons interested in dependent children, in the relief of suffering or correction of wrong-doing, will realize that they are invited to attend the approachj ing conference.
