Considerable hail fell this week in ' different sections of the county but ' so far we have heard of no serious i' damage. 1 Still another cotton bloom came i to us yesterday from Mr F Mishoe < of Greelyville, plucked from a ten- ( acre field, he advises. j About 100 from here went on the Maxton-Charleston excutsion Monday. It was partly a "jim crow'' affair and is said to have been fierce. There was no Bible in the court room when court convened Monday and several witnesses were sworn merely by holding up their right hands. The finest oats we have seen this season are on exhibition in the win- ' dow of the Kingstrcg Hardware Co. They came from the farm of Chrs | W Stoll, Esq, near town. J.Mr J L) Hinds, a thrifty and in- . Tjustrious young farmer near towr, tells us tnat he saw a cotton blossom in his field last Thursday, the ] . / 16th inst. This is the first that \\e have heard of. Jenkinson Bros Co is enlivening the dull season with tempting offers in the lines of merchandise they car- i ry. To the average buyer their bargain prices excel in interest the most compelling summer fiction. ' I Bennettsville is to have a $50,000 Government building. Maybe when Williamsburg gets a condidate for Congress to "scare them up," Kingstree will come in for some of the favors that are being handed out. John Beard, another of the few old-time printers, has "quadded out." He died at Greenville after a long illness of Bright's disease. He was a printer worthy of the name.
