The remains of John Henry Bethea, the man who was slain after killing two railroad men in Philadelphia, was buried in the familj grave-yard near Dillon Saturday General T L Rosser, a gallanl veteran of the Confederacy, wh( also was appointed brigadier genera during the war with Spain, diec Tuesday, at his home in Charlottes ville, Va., at the age of 73. Miss Frances Mclver, of this State, won the two years ire* tuition scholarship in the New Yorl University Law school at the clos ing exercises of the women's class in that institution last week. At Batesburg Thursday of lasl week, W B Glenn shot Clintor Rhoden to death on one of the main streets of the town. Both men are prominent citizens. The affray grew out of an old quarrel. Gary Brackman, a white boytwelve years old, was found ur concious Saturday night in an old school-house near Greer's, in Greenville county. The boy wa3 cut almost into shreds and w ill probably die. The affair seems to be shrouded in mystery. Mount Aetna, near Cantania, Sicily, whose periodic eruptions hav in the past wrought great havoc, has become troublesome recently causing earth-quakes, and deposits of smoke, ashes and lava, also destroying the homes of residents of the volcanic area. In the vicinity of Parks station, lear Laurens, Sunday night Tony Anderson was shot dead in the abin of Ida McCoy Nelson, who i*as herself mortally wounded, and Uex Ray, living a mile distant, was ailed to his door and shot through he heart. Two negro desperadoes, 'laude Ferguson and Jim Davis, rere the murderers of the first wo and are suspected of killing he third negro. Both the murierers escaped.
