J Manning, January 21:?Some ; weeks ago the Manning board of : trade appointed a committee to iui vestigate and report on the advisaj bilitv of holding a county fair at j Manning some time during the fall of 1910. The committee con j sisted of 0 R Sprott, F P Ervin (and \V E Jenkinson, all prominent citizens. They went to work at once corresponding with fair associations > in other counties and seeking information from all available sources. *' At ti?e call of this committee a i m. ctiug of business and professional , j men was held iu the town hall toduv. The committee made a favorable and enthusiastic report, j ami the meeting resolved unanimously that the organization of | a county fair association should be undertaken at once. The special committee was continued and instructed to apply to the Secretary of State for a charter, aud as au evidence of good faith subscriptions to a large portion of the necessary capital stock were pledged on the spot. Tne Manning board of trade lias j already done good work along i special lines, such as fostering ; the tobacco raising industry in | Clarendon county and offering piizes 'for the encouragement of the boys' I corn clubs.
