KINGST Local and Personal 9ST We are sending ont a number of statements to subscribers in arrears. There are * now on our books nearly 2,000 subscribers, many of whom have paid nothing m a year or ^ longer. We ask all these delinquents to settle up as soon as possible. Each account is made out up to the nearest year or half year. It may be that some who get these statements have already paid; if so just call - our attention to the fact and we will cheerfully make the correction. All we want is what is due us and not a cent more. But we do want that. The beautiful snow. Mr D E McCutcheu of Church , was a visitor in town Saturday. Mr W 8 Brockinton of Indiantown was noted in town Saturday of last week. 1 Misses Delmotte Floyd and J Addis Rollins, two of Lake Ci- * ty's attractive young ladies' ( spent Thanksgiving in town. Miss Lila Hammet, who is f ^stenographer for a firm at Mar- ( ion, spent several days this week with her parents in town, i Mr and Mrs H M Cooper and * Miss Jennie Cooper of Fowlers ? visited the family of Mr Hugh *irCutchen the early part.of # this week. '* Messrs XC Graham "'of Gourdins .and J E W Chandler of *( Lake JCity are serving this week as members of the grand jury d of the United States district & , court in Charleston. The Germofert Manufacturing c ? i Company of Charleston have something to say this week in our advertising columns. Their ' high grade fertilizers are sold ' by the Farmers' Supply Co. Thanksgiving^passed off here 6 without special accident or in- 1 cident. There were a number of hunting parties out, but from | visible results the Nimrods ac- j complished but small success in \ the destruction of game. Monday was salesday, but ( f most of the sales for various reasons were called off. The J A 1J T?: TV., tract SOiu?xuser vs f utiuu,tuu- ' taining 90 acres?wa^bid in by Leroy Lee, Esq,, for $1,500. This land is just out of town and is quite a desirable property. The hot supper given Friday night for the benefit ot the proposed Confederate monument 1 added about $75 to the fund, 1 that being the amount realized. Considering the inclement weather the proceeds were unexpectedly gratifying. Kingstree is to have a whole week of vaudeville next week at popular prices. "The James Adams' Big Ten Cent Show," as it reads on the bills, will give daily performances for one week. /This is said to be one o^the most popular ten cent shows on the road and they claim that their best advertisement is to see the show. Monday being salesday brought quite a number of r?pVLi' t v , 1 ' .. . l-r-v ; s '*''*:* ' ":"T* . v,.; *? .. V ' NOVEM it Entire Line X xT ? Remembe REE *: reseii tative people to town from all over the county. We are able to mention only a few comparatively?iust such as we chanced to meet on the street and in the office, as follows: Messrs. W S Eaddy, Prospect; J D Carter, Leo; C C and W D Daniel, Cooper; H L Whitfield, Lake City; E T Gaskins, Lake City; James Whitlock and A R Mosely, Salters; W C Wilson, Cades; S Poston and Walter Poston, Jay; S B Poston, Johnsonville; W J Singletary, 8ingle; M G McMillan, Heinemann. 'After all, we got a 'possum for Thanksgiving. ft was a fine specimen and brought joy'to the whole household. We are' indebted for this delicacy to the kind thoughtfulness of Mr B W McElveen of Cades. What with the 'possum "done to a turn," the potatoes presented by our Friends. Mr Hinds and Mr Ne smith, the pumpkin given by a :olored friend and the nice mess )f turnips sent us by Dr J R Srockinten, our Thanksgiving east exceeded the culinary art )f Brillat-Savarin or Lucullus, ind would even rival that of ( Jelshazzar without the hand- , rrrting on the wall. ? In the general shake- np of the Methodist Conference assignments for the ensuing year it is gratifying to the people of Kingstree that Rev. J. E. Mshaffey has been returned to this charge.
