We understand that she has resigned her position with the Western Union at that place. . Thanksgiving day was generally observed throughout the 6 town. All places of business 2 except one or two drug stores were closed and the day went by quietly and pleasantly. Editor Wolfe was noted here a short while Saturday. The little child of Mrs Aubrey Matthews, who lives near i McAliater's.was accidentally burned so badly last Wednesday that it died in a few hours- The little fellow's clothes caught at a fire in the yard around which he with another child was playing. The burning clothing was finally extinguished, but too late to save the Child's life. Saturday there whs found in the woods just beyond the town limits and near Mr S T Godwin's place\ a human skeleton, supposed to be that pf Ben Graham. There were the ' head, part of the pelvis and a few other bones, a single barrel gun, a cap and a hat, some clothing and a few pieces of money, amounting to sixty-six cents, were oy iae bones. These articles were positively identified as the property of the negro, Ben Graham. It will be recalled that his wife was killed about ten weeks ago at their home near Single and that Ben was accused of the crime. The night of the tragedy Ben disappeared. One or two , negroes claim to have seen him about a week thereafter near where these relics were found. Some think Ben killed himself with a load from his gun. Others however hold a different theory. While the gun and other articles are very probably Ben's, the bones are bleached white, all the teeth except one are gone, there is only a small fraction of all the bones of a complete skeleton; the entire top of the skull is broken into several pieces which was evidently done by a blow, and there are no signs'Of a shot any where. w T n *?
