Od Tbe Florida a Special Near Sailers Depot Two Hearts are United. Charleston, February 26:? Conductor C W Damon of the Atlantic Coast Line New York i and Florida Special No 89, yielded command of his train to Dan Cupid very gracefully last night, just after passing Salters, and while Engineer Bright Beard was shoving his engine ( along at a 50-mile clip, the little love god, through Mr J De* ; Jongh, notary public of Florence, made A W Harrell of Lock- ( hart, Ala, and Miss E 0 Ham- 1 mons of Rennert, N C, man and wife, amid the congratulations - / iL *.11 oi ineir xeiiuw paaaeu^cia. The marriage ceremony was completed by the time the flyer ] reached Lanes, 54 miles from < Chariest jn, and Miss Ledger of , Philadelphia thereupon made i the happy young people the ' wedding present of a silver < sugar spoon with the sentiment j that it might be useful in the i sweetness of their wedded life, j Without giving their friends ] and relatives any special warn- j ing Mr Harrell and Miss Ham- ' mons left Rennert in the after- ; noon and had it in mind to telegraph Charleston for a minister, planning to be married there and go on to Alabama. But before reaching Lanes the young 1 people decided that it would be a good thing to become united on the train, so they made in quiries on the vestibule for a minister. For awhile it looked { as if they would have to wait . until they reached Charleston to arrange for a minister. Trainmaster Brand of the j Atlantic Coast Line proved to be the right man in the right place. He knew that his friend, ! Mr DeJongh of Florence, a i lawyer, special agent of the road and notary public, was on , board the train, so Mr DeJongl] s was found and asked to perform the ceremony. He was quite willing. Mr. DeJongh likes to marry people. He believes in ; helping a good cause always i and can tie a neat and secure I matrimonial knot. After the marriage Mr and Mrs Harreli were surrounded by their fellow passengers who hastened to extend congratula- ^ tions.
