Pric I A WORD TO PATRONS Of Johnsonville School Patrons of Other Schools Might Read with Profit. To the Patrons of Johnsonville Graded School: I have a few requests I desire to make to all the people of our district and, believing- the County Record to be the most effective method of presenting them, I now sieze this opportunity The school question is such a broad one that columns might be covered in its treatment, but I shall select only a few topics and ask your careful consideration of them. First, I desire to request of you that you send your children j to school more regularly. Don't let them miss a day unless absolutely necessary. There is noth-: ing more discouraging to teach-! ers than to try to teach a child ; that attends two days and j misses three. And then, too, in the nature of things, the results are necessarily bad. Begin to- j day and train your children to ! regular and punctual habits and | they will remain with them for ever. You can't make a crop by working two days and resting three. Neither can a child acquire an education by giving it half his time.' Next, keep inclose touch wit. your children and see that thr\ prepare their lessons at home Talk with them about their work and give them every possible encouragement. Education begins at home. | The trouble is that most par<^^ imagine that as soon^^ they have turned their childi^ over to the school, the teachers shoulder the responsibility and their ! own ceases, mere couiu not be a greater error. It is the parent that wields the larger influence over the destiny of the child. I I feel sure that there is not a father in this broad land that does not desire to see his children prosperous and happy. Then g^y.e them a chance! Your I children are as gQQd as anybody else's. I)oes uot the hlood of 3 proud r^ee flow in thep-veins? Then, parents, come to o^ir rescue with your influence ' ... - II ! I I.I I II. ? II xrus % t Reac" ^ here. V i It. I I !_ L Y GOC \ >TON, S.
