Tli e Kingstree-Scranton Pythian excursion, which was looked forward to by so many with pleasing anticipation, became an equally pleasant actuality last Monday, and of all the crowd that participated, we have not heard an expression other than that of genuine enjoyment, the general sentiment being voiced with hearty accord in the chorus, "We had a jolly food time." To tfie members of the committee who had worked so hard and faithfully to make it a success, the outcome of the enterprtse is a matter of gratification and felicitation. The inauspicious aspect of the elements augured ill for the success of the excursion and that so large a number should brave tlie weather was as unexpected as pleasant to the Knights, who. when the day dawned wet and disagreeable, scarcely hoped to realize expenses. The crowd numbered about 450 and if the day had been fair there would scarcely have been standing room. As it was, after paying all expenses, there remained about fifty dollars to divide between the two lodges. Aiier arriving in tne city, most of tifb crowd visited the Isle of Palms, many spending the whole time at that resort. It was rather chilly for surf bathing but some ventured into the water anyway. The excursionists left the city at 12 o'clock, but on account of being side-tracked for a belated freight it was nearly four when they reached Kingstree, tired but still full of enjoyment from the day's outing. The number that went from Kingstree is estimated at 150. lake City K of P Excursion. The excursion of the K of P of Lake City on the 31st, to Charleston and the Isle of Palms promises to be one of the greatest excursion events ever opt rated in this section and indications point to the very largest high class while excursion that has been run in this section for years.
