. \ K k F " t ? ? ...I De3th of H. D. Munnerlyn. After a iin^fenug illness for abotil one year, Mr ffeiiry i) MimneHvn tlied at his elegant country home at Chop|)ee on last Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. All the members of his family were at his bedside when i he end came, which was peaceful and quiet Mr Munnerlvn began his life as a jK)or boy, but by his extraoidinai v business ability, his indomitable will ami absolute integrity, he acquired quite a snug little fortune, al though just in the prime of his life when ho was cut down. lie would have been 48 years old in January. He was one of the most influential men in his section and had the confidence and esteem or every one who knew him He will be greatly missed in his section for he was the friend of both the rich and the poor. Besides his wife, who was a Mi-s Fannie Hemingway, he leaves four sons and four daughters. I'ney are: James, Harry, Jodie, >ied; Birdie, Daisy Bed, Pauline and Louise. His oldest son, James, is 23 years old. He also leaves two brotheis, Mr Frank W Munuerlyu of Florence, and Mr Chas. W Munnerlyn of Augusta, Ga., and an uncle, L)r G F S Wright of our city. The deepest sympa hv goes out to the family in their beieavenient. The funeral services were conducted from the Union Methodist church, of which he was a member * If *1 r _ .. Although the day was cold and rainy, the church was packed with sympathizing friends, who came for miles to pay their last sad tribute of respect to their dead friend. The floral offerings were very ^numerous and exquisitively beautiful. The mound was completely covered with flowers. | The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Messrs D I Wilson, W E Snowden, J no. There^s no telling wjiat silly notions such men a& ltoosevelt and Lodge and Beveridge may put into the heads of these ptople through their unscrupulous and sometim ? shrewd leaders. There is one seutiment that is growing! among the whites dav by day, and j that is that the "uigger" must get; to work or get out. The black man I being the inferior, is naturally regarded as the proper laborer, and thd feeling seems to be pretty general that white ialior can not be successfully.euiployed as long as "Cuffyv is among us. it can not be deuied . that there is much logic in this po- j sition. Further, it cannot bede lied that the negroes are more iusoleut now than in many years. Now then, "Cuffy" being among us, and growing more aud more iusolent and less inclined to work, what are we going to do. with him? It is a serious piolfcm but it must be solved. W L B.
