Iimnniiatolv oil re ceipt of tin* sad ti?lin*rs .Messrs Charles \V and Philip Sloll left for Chester to be present ai the funeral, which took place on .Sunday. in common with their other friends we leel a profound sympathy for our fellow townsmen, the Messrs Sloll. The deceased was well known known in Williamsburg, havitit! labored many years here in his ministerial work. The subjoined sketch is taken fiom Rev Watson B Duncan's - I- I 1- .1* .1.,. I? dKeiCll-U<M>h hi iiieouum vni'iiiiiu Conference: The Rev .fames Cra?k Stoll, gon of William and Caroline Stoll, was born in Charleston, 8. C., flWav 3, 1S35. Piously reared, lie grew 10 manhood without being soiled in character and life by any ol the vices as common to youth. Under the same influence he united early with the church. His education was received in the public schools of Charleston which are known to do good and thorough work; but he has been a student all bis life, and especially a student of the Bible. We have not in the conference a man better posted in the holy Seiiplnruii tli-in .lunipii (! St oil. lt?I\0 V n*MV>r ? His call to the ministry was clear and pronounced. It was intensified during a revival of great purer at Bethel Clmrch, Charleston, in the year 1S58. Burning, with the love of souls and an ardent desire to win them for Christ, he asked and received license to preach and was received into the South Carolina Conference in December of that year. Brother Stoll is a man of nnmual modesty. While brave enough to fearlessly face any foe, be is almost timid when placed v in a consniuous portion. Bure in thou Jit and word, he will not brook anything which is lacking ill c!e?r thought and cliasle ex pres.-ion. Friendly and levin?:, lie e'eaves to his brethren with hooks ol steel. Without a drop of bigot's blood, he loves Methodism with a surpassing affection. It is natural that this should be so. When the early Methodists were driven out ot' their first place ot worship 10 Charleston, 8. 0M it was a grandmother of his who opened her house to them, and from that early day his people have been staunch Methodists. As a Christian, our brother's experience lias been clear and Ins practice consistent. He walks with God. About two years ago he had a severe fall, from the effects of which he has neVer entirely recovered. The disability became so great that at Chester Conference. 1900, he asked and was granted a superannuated relation. It is a pity that the work of so gifted it preacff?r must end so soon. On November 25th. 1861, he married Miss Mary L McCollough, of Williamsburg county, who still blesses his home. There are eight living children?Samuel N., William M., Charles W., James * O., Jr., Philip H., SueL , Mary P. and Alice W. Was under a doctor's care and taking all kinds of drugs and medicine, douches, solutions in nose, etc. The doctor nearly blew my head away with a powerful air pump?medicated air, he called it. It did absolutely nothing in my case. I threw everything away?medicine, air pump, douches?and commenced on Duffy's Pure Malt Whiskey. I felt better from the start. I take one ounce with water before and after each meal and at bedtime, and now, after using four bottlea, I can eat and drink and sleep well, and I feel better to-day than I have for twenty years. I was opposed to all kinds of liquet and used none for twenty-five years. I use Duffy's as a medicine only, and fthall continue to use it as long as I live, if I can gel it. I know it will keep me alive, and may in time improve my hearing. I liopo it will. Yours very sincerely, W. SCOTT. A LATER LETTER. Dear Sir: I have improved some since writing you before, only occasional cough and very little discharge from nose. Feeling much better.
