There will be fun for all, and to satisfy your hunger, you will be able to buy candy, peanuts, hot dogs, cold drinks, and other things. Come out and enjoy yourself and help the organization. Fall Meeting PTA The first meeting of the fall of the Prosperity PTA was held Monday evening, Septem ber 26. The Rev. C. E. Seastruk con ducted the devotions. Mrs. Gurdon W. Counts, the new president, presided over the meeting. Supt. C. E. Hen drix spoke of the relation be tween the school and the PTA and asked for the cooperation of the patrons in building a better school. Mr. Walter Trammell, the new athletic di rector, spoke of the benefits of athletics in the school curri culum. The first grade won the at tendance prize. After the business session, the group enjoyed an informal get-together in the gymnasium. Punch and cookies were served. A large number was present. Of Personal Interest The William Lester Chapter of the UDC will meet Friday afternoon with Mrs. H. P. Wic ker at 3:30. The many friends of the Rev. Harvey M. Montgomery will be glad to know that he has returned home from the Provi dence hospital. He is still con fined to his bed but is improv ing. BISHIP TO RECEIVE DISCHARGE Sgt. Judson W. Bishop, USAF son of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Bish op, route 4, Newberry, who has been serving with the Far East Air Forces, assigned to the 440th Signal Aviation Heavy Construction Battalion, has recently returned to the United States for discharge, ac cording to an announcement by Commanding Officer, Major William H. Mundorff. Sergeant Bishop attended Newberry city schools, adn en tered the service in September 1944, serving overseas during the war with the 43rd Infantry Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Battle Stars.
