Hamm of Silverstreet, is a dele gate to the convention. Miss Rose Hamm has return ed to Charleston where she is Music Director in the Charles ton city schools, after spending her summer vacation with her toother, Mrs. D. L. Hamm and sister. Miss Pearl Hamm in Sil verstreet. „ Mrs. L. Boyd Hamm of Col umbia, daughter-in-law of Mrs. D. L. Hamm of Silverstreet, at tended the State conference of the Lutheran Missionary society here this week. Chief Colie L. Dowd and Mrs. ; Dowd left Tuesday for a week’s vacation. They will visit Ralph Taylor in Danville, Va., and will also visit Mr. Dowd’s sis ter in Virginia. They are ex- oected to return to Newberry this weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert H. Aull moved last week from Boun dary street to Saluda, where they are now making their home. Mir. Aull is connected with his brother Luther Aull in Johnston, and Mrs. Aull has ac cepted a position in the Holly wood school near Saluda. Paul H. Haile of Parris Island spent the weekend here with his wife on McCaughrin Ave. Hon. Butler B. Hare of Salu da was a visitor in Newberry Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burton Wells of Augusta, Ga., were weekend visitors in the home of Mr. Wells’ mother, Mrs. H. B. Wells on Harrington street. Mrs. O. W. Holmes of Fayett- ville. N. "I METHODIST WOMEN PLAN MEETING The Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Green wood district is holding its Fall Seminar at Main Street Church Greenwood, September 30, to present the educational pro gram of the W.S.C.S. for the fall and spring. Mrs. Francis Cunningham of Laurens. District Secretary of Missionary Education, will give the introduction of the Study Classes, and (Mrs. Fletcher Spig- ner of Columbia, conference president will discuss “Pro gram Building.” The study topic, “America’s Geographical Frontiers” will be presented by Mrs. L. C. Bradey and Mrs. D. C. Smith. “The Bible and Hu man Rights” will be presented by Mrs. Ralph Wilson and Mrs. L. E. Gatlin. “China in the Asia of Today” by Mrs. Niles C. Clark, and “Growth of Spirit ual Life” by Mrs. Helen B. Bourne.
