Johnson shot MAfoore in the abdomion, and then fled. It is claimed that Moore, who is the largcr of the two, had been threatening Johnson, and the latter procero a pistol. Hearing this, Moore sought Johnson, and dared him to shoot. The laltter making no deumnst'ation, Mooro attacked him, wvhen Johnson shot. Ift is not known yet whethei' the wound will be0 fatal. Tnx BAPrIST Asc,oCIATIoN.--The Association of the Baptist Church, Composing portions of the counties of Richland, Fairfield and Chester, met at Sandy Level Church, necar Blythewood, on Friiday, the 12th inst. The attendance was very full, nonboing mong others the Rov~s W. A. Gaines, T1. W. Smith, T. W. Mellielmmp, R. W. Sanders, A. W. Lammar, B. F. Corley, and J. D. Mahon. About sixty lay delegates were p)resenlt. Dr'. S. WV. Bookhart presided as Moderator, and Dr John Boyd was appointed Clerk. The usual routine business was transacted. The Rev. Mr. Sanders preach ed the opening sermon, and tihe Rev. TII. W. Smith the sormion on Charities. The Association ad. journed on Sunday after a most gratifying session. Tim CmCUIv CouIr.-SinCO our last report, the following business has boen transacted in the circuit court : State vs. August Vallmet., in dicted for malicious mischief-AI M. Mackey for defendant. Verdict -Not uiIty, under instruction of his Honor the presi(ling judge. State vs. Frank Bolton, indicted for malicious mitschief-Jno. S. Reynolds for defendant. Verdict-. Guilty. A motion for a now trial was mado by the defendant's coun sol, and, aftor argument, overruled by his Honor. Stato vs. John Laulion, indicted for rape-A. M. Mackey for defend ant. Verdict-Not guilty. This was the last criminal caso triod. In the caso of Prince Martin, in dicted for bigamy, the grand jury returned no bill. The grand jury made their pro sontment, and were discharged. The presentment contains nothing of special interest. On Wednesday morning the pris oners convicted during tho term were called into court and sentenced as follows: Jesso Richardson, convicted of grand lareeny-six moniths at hard labor in the penitentiary. Wesley Lyles, convicted of assault and battery-forty days in the coun ty jail. Hamp Miller, convicted of mali cious mischief-six months at hard labor in the penitentiary. Frank Belton (a brother of the noted Joe Belton] convicted of malicious mischief-six months at hard labor in tho penitentiary. The Court of General Sessions was then adjourned, and the Court of Common Pleas duly opened. Several judgments by default were taken. The following casos were then tried before the jury: John C.
