He Never Fails! u. 1^- C- Native of Bamberg Builds His Own Car Herman Hill, Skilled Mechanic, Now of Detroit, Yaluea Vehicle at $3.r»oo. Hamberfr, July 18.—Herman Hill, a native of Bamberg, and an expert me chanic, has alw 'y,, wanted an automo bile with ‘‘everythin* on it," Now he haa it—the work of his own hands. Mr. Hill says that th? cv stood him just about $.'i.. r >00. and anyt»ody who haa inspected the ma.-hine rfwcs not doubt it, for it is a “classy'' «wr in every respect, built according to his own design and specification*. Mr Hill is the son ef the late J. W. Hil, of Bamberg, who died recently. Mr Hill has lived and pliea h s trade in Ifetroit, Mich, for several years. Upon the death of his father a wire was sent h m His own built ear brought him home well >n time for the funeral Mr. Hill does not be hove in Violating traffu lawa. but the time was limited, and he aped along directly in front of the camp for seeding. One of the most helpful of the ven tures undertaken by the new men wa s transplanting a couple of goo<(-sized wild cherry trees frdVn the borders of the camp area to a place right in the center and front of the camp. There is considerable speculation and some betting as to whether or not they will survive the hot and dry weather. New Personnel. Malcolm McCutcheon, who has been stationed at the Pontiac -camp since he joined the Forestry service about a month ago, ha s been transferred to this camp. Mr. McCucheon graduated in engineering at the University of South Carolina in June. While here he will be in charge of surveying over a wide area of the county. Lieut. W. H. Lacey, medical officer, stationed at the Montmorenci camp, will be in charge of the medical needs of this camp, also. He made his first visit here Saturday, July 17th. In the Woods. Because a large detail under Clyde Padgett went down to Luray last week to work on the project down there, only Mr. Murray, Mr. Edger- ton, Mr. McCutcheon and leader J. B. Potter were in charge of crews here. Mr. Murray was working on the house at the Dunbarton tower; Mr. Edgerton was working on the out buildings at the Elko tower, Mr. Mc- Ciitcheoh had a surveying crew, and leader Potter had a crew clearing and then planting Crotolaria at the Barn well tower. The bulk of the men this week will Mrs. Maude B. Patterson 90.00 RED CROSS CHAPTER HAS GOOD MEETING paint job himself, ten coats of lacquer. Has Two Generators. Features of the car include two ' generators, one for the starter ami ( be engaged in truck trails, one for the lights and radio. The | » . m m car has a built-in trunk and seats that can easily be turned into a bed. Mr. Hill figures that he spent ap proximately 2,500 hours working on his car, and at a dollar an hour this would be $2,500, and that the actual c:;sh outlay appioximated $1,000. He was asked if he would sell it for $3,500, and he replied that he probably would—if he had an offer— ami that he would start right in build ing another one to incorporate tome thing* he forgot. He aaya he ha a a lot of new ideas which he woul a like to try out if he ever builds another one. Triple “C” Newt Notes (By Arthur RiJdork.
