The high score prize, two decks of playing -eards, was won by Mrs. R. S. Dicks, and the consolation, also two decks of cards, was cut by Miss ffeBee Patterson. During the after noon delightful refreshments were served. OF VISITOR. Mrs. G. W. Peeples entertained with three tables of bridge Saturday even ing in honor of Mrs. J. L. Johnsori, of Savannah, who was the guest of Mrs. Annie Crenshaw and Miss Frankie Harley last week. The card room was beautifully decorated with yellow r.nd white chrysanthemums. The high score prize, a jar of bath salts, went to Mrs. Dubois Robertson, while the consolation,., a box of correspondence cards, was cut by Mrs. R. L. L, INTERESTING MEETING OF ^ LOCAL CHAPTER. — A very interesting meeting of the ' 'V Johnson Hagood Chapter, U. D. C., was held Friday afternoon at the* Circle Inn, when Mrs. Lizzie Shep herd, Mrs*, E. DrPeacock, Mrd? Julia Delk Jones and MissCarrie Williumr entertained. a. large number of the members. In the absence of the jiresiden^ Mrs. R. S. Dicks, the meeting was presided over by Mrs. B. L. Easter ling, Vice-president. After the open ing prayer, the roll was called, each member responding with the name of a battle of the War Between the States. Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Reports from committees were heard with much in terest, especially the committee on ar rangement for the Veterans’ dinner, which will be given some time during December. After the business session,i an excellent historical program was had. An outline of the Chapter his tory was given by Miss Anna Walker, Chapter Historian. A paper on Am brose Powell Was read by Mrs. Forest Brown. Excerpts‘from North Caroli na 4n the Confederate Congress was given by Mrs. A. E. Bronson and a reading, “How Grandad Felt,” was given by Mrs. G. M. Greene. Hostesses for the December meet ing will be Mrs. Alpheas Connor, Mrs. A. fc. Bronson, Mrs. A. J. Bennett and Mrs. Cora Brooker.
