Brown returned last week from Washington, D. C., where he has been serving on an impor tant committee. Miss Eulalie Black, of Hilda, was a visitor here Monday afternoon. She is a candidate in The People-Senti nel’s big circulation campaign. Mrs. M. B. Hagood and son, Mr. Bates Hagood, motored down to Lit tle Switzerland Tuesday afternoon, to visit relatives. Miss Ella Louise Molair has re turned from Augusta, where she was bride’s maid at the Marks-Eggleston wedding Tuesday. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Herndon, formerly of Furman, will be glad *to know that they have moved to Barnwell, where they will make their future home. Mr. J. L. Widman has returned to Asheville, N. C., after spending the holidays in the city with relatives. Mrs. Widman and little son will spend some time with her mother, Mrs. Em mie Porter. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. DeCosta have returned to their home in Columbia after spending the Christmas holi days with the latter’s father, Dr. A. B. Patterson. Their daughter, Miss Elizabeth DaCosta, and Miss Mary Patterson remained over for a few 4ays longer. The many friends of Mrs. Edgar A. Brown will be glad to know that she is recovering from a severe at tack of bronchitis, which at one time threatened to develop into'pneu- monia. Miss BeBee Patterson entertained with three tables of bridge Saturday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. E. J DaCosta, of Columbia. Mrs. B. P. Davies won the ladies' high score prize, Mr. B. P. Davies won the men's high score prize and Mr. Solomon Brown cut the consolation. After the games a salad course, with fruit cake and wine, wa« served.' Fitzpatrick, which occurred Wed nesday afternoon of last week, the ceremony being performed bv the Rev R. W. Humphries, pastor of the Barn well Methodist Church, at his resi dence. Immediately after the cere mony, the happy young couple left for Jackson Hill, N. C., where they will spend their honeymoon, followed by the wishes of their friends for a happy and prosperous married life. They are expected to return to Bam- well this Wftolr ^ is Here! A. Hensley will learn with regret that be and his family leave this week for sheville, N. C., where they will e their future home. Dr. Hensley me to Barnwell shortly after the close of the World War, in which he served as a captain in the medical eorps, and has won scores of friends who give him up with reluctance. Hercules, Dec. 29.—Miss Lucy Cook is spending the Xmas holidays at Snelling with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Cook. Huggins have returned from a several week's stay in Florida. They report having en joyed their visit very much.
