C., NOVEMBEAR 3, 1921 S$ PICKENS BAPTIST ASSOCIATION ME' The annual meeting of the Pic' ens Baptist assbeiation held with S cona church October 26-27 is said have been the best held by that bo< in many years. The reports and di cussions were till good and upliftiri and the affairs of the association ai in better shape than before the meel ing. Rev. F. T. Cox preached the intr< ductory sermon, after which routin business was taken up, such as rt ports and discussion of missions, oi phanage, education, both commo: school and denominational, the 7 million campaign in its 'ifferen phases, etc. The second day was taken up witl work more closely confined to the as sociation, such as reports of com mittees, revision of the constitutioi so as to include woman's work an allow women the same privileges a men in the association, digest o church letters. At this session th question of law enforcement came u and was vigorously and most inter estingly discussed and by a risin Vote the congregation almost unani mously said they would personall: take a greater interest in law en forcement and do what they could d, see that it was rigidly enforced. The next meeting will be held wit] Oolenoy on the fourth Sunday in Sep tember, 1922, and Friday and Sat urday before. Officers of the association are Moderator, W. E. Findley; clerk, E F. Freeman; executive committee, C E.. Robinson, A. A. Moon, F. T. Coi A. P. Hammond, R. T. Hallum; steer ing committee, R. T. Hallum, W. H Stewart, J. R. Connelly. HAP1TIST DAY NOVEMBER 13 At the meeting of the Pickens Bay tist association at Secona last 'wee it was (ecided to observe Sunda November 13, as Baptist Rally Da throughoit the association. A steel ing committee was appointed to pr< vide services in all the churches i 11 o'clock at which time the membe spip of each church will meet for fe lowship of praise and prayer an, gratitude to God for his blessing Upon the denom i nation and it achievements. The (lay will culminate in an as sociation-wide rally meeting to be hel at the Pickens Baptist church at 3:3 p. i., which will be addressed by Re% S. P. Hair, pastor of the First Bap tist church of Fountain Inn, on som phase of stewardship. It is expecte that there will be a number of ret resentatives from each church of th association and from churche throughout the county to attend thi meeting. Mr. Hair has been very muel .in dlemand at associational meeting of this kind throughout the state thi fall and has a strong message t bring to the people of Pickens'a sociation. Correll is forging atca e- with his house and it will soon be to- completed. Messrs J. C. Meredith lyl and Adger Mauldin are doing the car - penter work. Work on the Methodist church is eI going on now and it is hoped that it will soon be ready to worship in. One of Cato Sherman's boys (col.) Sonny Boy was killed in Toccoa, Ga., e last Sunday. lie was cut to death with a knife. Mr. D. A. Collins of Greenville was in Central last week on business. W. C. Dobson went to Anderson t last week on a shopping trip. Frank Brown has gone back to Charleston to work. His family left - last week. Mrs. Bettie Ramseur left for Wash ington last Sunday where she goes to be with her son, Walter, who is Secretary to Congressman Dominick, We are sorry to see Mrs. Ramseur leave Central. Mrs. B. E. Allen is in Florence visiting her sister Mrs. Mary Dudtley. Little B. E. Allen Jr., is missed very much as he has not been seen at the gate lately, where he usually stands ind greets the passers by. T.A. Robinson was called to Bir mingham last week on account of the illness of his son. On his return he reports his son much better. Mrs. F. B. Morgan has been on the sick list to the regret of her many friends. Mrs. K. W. Allen, of Anderson mother of Mr. B. E. Allen, is spend ing sole time with him here whil( his wife is away. R. G. Gaines adds a beautiful porel to his home here. Central high school has organizet a literary soc.iety and has renderet one excellent program. This is on, k of the things that Central high schoe has needed for some time. It help the students put into. practice wha they learn. Mrs. G. F. Hughston,. wife of Di t Hughston died in Chick Springs hos pital last Thursday of typhoid fever She leaves four children, a husban( one brother, and her father and moth. er to mourn her loss. Dr. and Mrs. H ughston came to Central last spring from Mcores and while here have made many friends. Mrs. HughstonlF original home was in West Virginik and she was not buried until Sunday on account of waiting for her )arent6 and brother to get here from. West 0 Virginia. She was buried at Beth. I lehem church near Roebuck in Spar - tanburg county. She was Miss Mary e McCauley before marriage to Dr. lughston.
