This is not a new story. We have told it before. W have told it to our !awmakers. We have told it to our road builders, I supervisor 111(1 every one else who has given us the 'ightest impression that they have any (e- ire. 10'-h ", ei:('oila tl 1 sl e us ir better sha~pe in the road question. We have had t'he good wishes of all. But what we would appreciate mure is material help which, united with our individ u111 efforts. would accomplish the de sired effeet. No section of the county realizes more forcibly the strenuous "hard times" of the pa.t moliths. WhTly should not jovisions have been made for th( coiipletioil of this road the s:n4 as for the 'entral-Calhoun road?' W\'! do not like to comphain. The people have never been an a' 1_ressvie people. Thev have aece'pt e.d what has been meagerly han(ldd to them in the way of road improve ments. This has amounted to a1 lit tle more than the worst mud holes being filled with pine brush or rocks. But the situation is worse than it has ever been. The road in places was left unevenly graded with the slanting side toward deep ravines. Travel over these places is less de sir'able than thr'ough the fills, wvhere you "'stick"' unt il you are p~ulledl out. It is almost imlipossible to get a doctor to venture out after a shower; the matil man has quit using his ear; Ithe r'ural po1 (Clicn have llaandonedC the seection entirely.
