Bruton, Assaulted,?Warrant Sworn Out on Monday Morning,?Assailant Had Given Trouble. 1?\ P. Bordeaux and other# wen? attracted to the County jail last Sun day afternoon, late, by the noise of trouble between a man and a wo man. Mrs. Catherine Bruton ran from the jail, and Brock Bruton ran after her out was prevented from injuring her any further. Chief of Police Ambrose was called and he placed Brock Bruton under arrest and the defendant spert Sunday night in the town lock-up. On Mon day morning a warrant was sworn oiu f .r his arrest charging him with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. The warrant was issued by Magistrate W H Chest r.ut. E lquiry was made as to the begin r iug of the trouble and it was stated that Brook Bruton went to the# jail on Sunday evening, - the humo, of Mrs Bruton, and that he became intonated lor some reason, shored her down and struck her in the face making a considerable sign. That sue then broke away from him and ran out of the house and was chased by him as stated above. Sessions for many years, lie died a year or two ago, nod since chat time the jail has bean Kept by Mrs, Bruton with the help ner boys, and the county jail build ing, the lower floor, has been the home of the family. It was said mat the defendant was un&fer the In fluenco of wniskoy when the difficulty occurred. He is a relation of the iate J. C. Bruton. Later on Monday he was tried before the Mayor and sentenced to a fine or 30 days on the public works. He will be tried later in the Court of General Sessions on the warrant sworn out as above stated. Large Potato Yield. J G Allen of Biyboro township brought to the Herald office one day last week, a sweet potato of the rod yam yariet.y, which tipped the scales a'o II pounds, thus beating the others who recently sent large potatoes t j the office. This last poiat* was almost perfect in shape and was 3 ;und through and through. It was grown on a sprout in a onu ucrw patch on the farm of Mr Allen and from this one aero Mr Allen harvest ed 400 bushels. On the acre wa% u ied 800 pounds of guano and 20 bushels of cotton seed. The land has a clay foundation and has been well drained. The crop was harvested by Mr Alien about one week ago. His farm is in fine condition at.d situated near Blanche, S. This week the plumbing will oe completed by V. J. Anderson, and the building will oe in use in a very short time. The buildiug of Dr. U. L. Scarborough near the Conway Baptist sourch is now well on the way to 3ompletion. It is a large and well uranged building, and will be all (ihat is wanted lor the accommoda Lion of patients. More will be- said about this enterprise later on when it is nearer completion. A C Thompson has erected a number c f new tenant houses ou the va3ant lots purchased by him from B. G. Coiiius. Thov are better fcnan the general run of tenant k houses, some of them being two jtories. They are all supplied with tvater and will be quite an addition to that section of the residence portion of the town. The two now brick stores erected Dy G. Editor Herald:?On Nov. 1st, I went to the beach at Magnolia, several parties with me, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Leonard. Sane where on the route there appeared a little red puppy by wagon. 1 seared him off several times but it would come back. Made several inquiries about him, but could not find any one who Knew him.
