9 January 30, 1902 THE, LUTHERAN VISITOR UKWBERRY COLLEGE NOTES, ^10101601 Do You Wish the Finest Bread and Cake It is conceded that Royai Baking Powder is purest and strongest of all baking pow ders, absolutely free from alum, ammonia and every adulter ant. 44 Royal” makes the best and most wholesome food. ftOVAl BAKING POWDER CO., 100 WILLIAM ST.. NEW YORK. The faculty has decided to give a recess the first week in April to enable the students to visit the Charleston Exposition and it is thought that a .large number of them will take advantage of the opportunity. A visit to Charleston will be worth more to them than a week in college, and the boys and gifts will have a great time. • * « Next week the Rev. W. L Sea- brook will deliver a series of lec tores before the college Y M. t \ A. And tbe following week the asso ciation will send a delegation to the Btateconvention iu Columbia. The Kssocmtiou exerts a strong influence for good and is worthy of support. • • • The students have been blessed in the matter of good health this session. There has practically been no sickness among them, and, ss s result, attendance upon tbe regular work of the classes has been excellent. • • • The boarding hall has had marked success under the manage ment of Mr. and Mrs. b. O. Eptiug. In spite of tbe high prices of gro- e tries the boarders got through tbe first three months of tbe sesion on about $5 a month each. We hope that no one will expect them to live on less than this. • • • Ten new stndenta have entered college since Christmas, running the enrollment up into the sixties. The totul enrollment this year will probably be about ten short of that of last session, and yet the attend ance is most gratifjing. The pre sent senior class is smaller than that of 1901 by eighteen members, bnt the total enrollment in the col lege classes is larger than it was last year. • • • Daring the recent meeting of the Soathren Educational Association in Colombia an important college meeting was held, at the call of the State Superintendent of Education. The object of the meeting was to take action looking to the adoption of uniform minimum entrance re- quirements and a uniform rale as to accredited preparatory schools Furman, Wofford, Erskine, New berry, the S C. College, the Cit adel, and the College of Charleston were represented. At an ajonrned meeting, to be composed of repre- aentives from these colleges, acon- atitntion and by laws will be adopt ed for the permanent organization of an association of colleges, G. B. C. S C , Jan. 25, 1902. Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed con dition of the mucous lining of tbe Ens- tachin Tubi. When this tuba D in flamed you have a rumbling sound or impertect hearing, and when it is en - tlrely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken ont and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de stroyed forever. Nine cases ont of ten are can-ed by Catarrh, which is noth ing bnt an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces. We wiil'give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (earned by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free. F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, O.
