January 23, 1902 Our PubUcation Day.-A change in onr arrangement for printing The Visitor has made necessary » change of day in gomg.to press, —one day later than usual. The putting >n of a larger and improved printing press in the i fflce and more satisfactory power to drive the machinery are greater conveniences than have heretofore been erj >y*d in our mechanical work. The change from the old to the new order of things caused a disarrange ment of onr schedule and a delay in mailing the paper several weeks in the last month or two. A few inquiries have been received con cerning these delays, and in reply we make this statement. How ever, The Visitor will aim to be on time henceforth Appreciative Words —The follow ing is an extract from a letter re ceived from a pastor who until some time ago served well and ac oeptably a pastorate in his native Southland: "I note with pleasure the constant improvement in The Visitor, and I would not be without it. It brings me the news from my dear old Southland, toward which my affection grows stronger every day of my absence. The Visitor is well edited, neatly printed and is one of the best papers of onr Chnrch or of any Chnrch in this country; and, since I come to think of it, I fear onr Sonthern people do not appreciate The Visi tor as they should. Many church papers that are no better charge two dollars. I am astonished at the cheapness of The Visitor when I compare it with other papers.” Bible Reading.—Pastor H. A. McCullough of Cameron, S. C., has sneceeded in a gratifying manner in an effort for more general study of the Bible in his parish. Forty persons completed a course of daily study prescribed by him the first year in 1899, and at the close of the year the Editor of The Visitor was visiting in the parish and bad the pleasure of speaking to them publicly on this important subject. The next year twelve persons com mitted to memory the books of the Bible. Last year as many as fif teen persons complied with the pastor’s request to read through the Bible during 1901, and all of whom received a souvenir in the form of a beautiful New Year eard accompanied with a photo of the pastor. Each family in the parish was given a Nev Year greeting—an earnest and thought ful pastoral Ifetter neatly printed on heavy cardboard and with an embossed colored cover with leti ter-press in white and gold. We must confes® that it is not without a shade of sadness that we announce that in three months onr banner mast be lowered and ihe century campaign closed. In the meantime the eyes of many in onr churches will scan with anx ious interest the century column, and the weekly reports of our treasurer. There are some liberal hearted souls that are looking with hopefnl 'cnriosity at this chnrch thermometer. If the churches rally with unanimity, it will be a moral force which will provoke testamentary remembrances per haps in unexpected quarters. The first of May becomes an important date in our history. May it be one of general rejoicing I Robert C. Holland. Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications as they cannot roach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an iuflaaied con dition of the mucous lining of the Eus- tachin Tubs. When this tube is in flamed you have a rumbling sound or impertect bearing, and when it is en tirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de stroyed forever. Nine cases out of ten are cau-ed by Catarrh, which is noth ing but an inflamed condition of the mucons surfaces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free. F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, O.
