The question ol thc constitutional con vention at this time is unfortunate. ll is thc means used by thc demagogues in both factions to keep themselves before the people and unnecessarily agitate the country. It is interesting to notice thc earnest solicitude ol' some of our leaders, lo have peace and unity, (and it is these very same leaders who have done much lei cause trouble. In their imagined great ness they assumed powers lhat belong to thc people, make pledges they have no right to make, and which they cannot fullfil, unless they think the people arc figure heads to be controlled at their will. Thc people will have no voice in rati fying the acts ot this constitutional con vention. It would seem eminently proper then that they should have a voice in the selection ol the delegates to thc conven tion. In what belter way can they do this than the prlmaiij ? Why all this unnecessary solicitude about an equal division of delegates be tween the two factions? What difference docs it make whether a delegate is a Reformer.or a Conservative, if bc is thc right man and ihe man the people want? Lets have no wire pulling, but let thc ? would be delegates come bclore thc peo ple and whoever they select will be the right ones. X.
