Corley y son of Mr. anh Mrs TVade F Corley arrived j home Saturday May 17th from Camp Jackson where he was sent for discharge after returning from France. Mr. Corley has been overseas for 13 i months doing service with the A E F in France Belgium^ Luxemburg and Germany. He was in the heavy fight ign at Verdun^ and Chateau Theiry: and was one of the 27 men left in his j company of 240( unwounded. After i the signing of tlie armistice Mr. Corley was sent with the army of occupa tion into Germany where he spent four months with headquarters at Cob . lenz. He is looking fine and says he .is in the best of health measuring over six feet in heighth and weighing 200 | pounds. He says he had a wonderj ful experience and would not take any thing for what he has seeny but after all Lexington is the best place. He reached home Saturday? and Monday morning went to the cotton field with his hoe to show ''General Green" howhe fought the Germans^ and it is need less to say that it wasn't long before he had him on the run. Washington.-?Mure than $45,000,000 worth of motor trucks have been turned over to the department of agriculture by the war department and are ready to be distributed to the various state highway departments through the bureau of public roads. The trucks, numbering about twenty thousand, and a majority of them new, are the surplus left on the hands of th$ war department when the war ended. They are to be distributed to the states under a provision of the postoffice appropriation bill and must be used on road construction work.
