Senator to succeed T_ the late Senator B R Tillman. Benet is a young man of unusual ability; strong character; conscientious and full of energy. He is in every way fitted to represent the people of South Carolina in the high office of United States Senator; and we knowhe will do so honestly and fearlessly. A GREAT DAY OF PLEASURE FOR MR. AND MRS G M HARMAN We were indeed fortunate on the Fourth of July to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R B Melton of Colum bia. They were so kind and generous as to come over to Lexington, at our home for us in their car to go spend the 4th with them. After a comfort able and pleasant ride to Columbia, we arrived first at Briggs' Cafe, and there is no better place in Columbia to get a magnificent dinner and such a spread, we would not attempt to give an idea of the menu served, but it was grand. Enjoying tftis ana our company so pleasantly we visited Camp Jackson, viewing the many - cites to be seen, and were here joined by Lieut. Smith of the M. P force He too is a mighty clever gentlemanly fellow; one of the stars of his com. mand?and an intelligent Californian interesting conversationalist and his experience means something. After going around the camp ad noted places in Columbia, we concluded to try the air in Lexington, not seemingly; quite so sultry. When home we divested ourselves of coat and emoided freely of good fresh water, resting under our own "vine and fig tree" to greatest content with our company? who took supper with us. It is a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction to meet and have such friends and time will pass but nevei cause us to forget this grand and gloi ious 4th. Sometimes we imagin we are "growing old and in the way/1 but occasions like this will always be remembered and sorry when such friends depart. PERSONALS AND LOCALS. Mr. Silas P. Follow this Lex ington resident's example. Mrs. ?- A Sox, farmer General De livery; says: "About four years ago I was in a pitiful condition, caused by kidney complaint. My kidneys bothered me a great deal and I suffered with backache something terri. ble. I couldn't bend over, my bach was so painful and my kidneys both ercd me nearly as much. Doan'.? Don't , simply ask for a kidney remedy?get Doan's Kidney Pills?the same that Mrs Sox had. Foster-Milburn Co: Mfgrs; Buffalo; N. Y. CHRONIC CONSTIPATION. Perhaps you have never thought of ; it, but this disorder is due to a lack 1 of moisture in the residual matter of . the food. If you will drink an abun t dance of water, eat raw fruits and take lots of outdoor exercise, you may be able eventually to overcome it entirely. In the meantime use the most mild and gentle laxatives. Strong and harsh cathartics take too t much water out of the system and make a bad matter worse. Chamber Iain's Tablets are easy and pleasant to take, and most agreeable in effect. Give them a trial. 5 Bank No. 221 1 STATEMENT OF THE CONDITION > OF THE BANK OF SWANSEA t! Located at Swansea, S.
