It does not require rear so mud: meat to do us nor: as it did a year co two aero. The people oi Lexmgcon are c music-loving: people. If you do nci believe it just lock at the large number cf music pupils the three instruct ors in the town of Lexington have. The banks cf the county are in a prosperous condition??.!! of them having plenty of money to care for the needs of their patrons and friends. o We notice through, the daily papers that the Chester postbffice sold $708. 0 worth of war savings stamps daring the first ten days in April. We want to call attention to the fact that the Lexington pest office sold over $4,400.00 worth during the first 15 days in April. And Chester calls herself a city. There is every prospect for a splen did grain yield on the farms of Lexington. Wheat is said to be unusual ly good, and oats are looking fair. What a glorious blessing this will prove to be! The oat crop last year was practically a failure, and farmers felt the heavy hand of high piicc >. lvii u .svvu crop coming1, with the finest prospects of a large fruit crop in recent years, with larders filled plenty of lard and bacon, together with v>-ellfilled corn cribs, the average Lexington county farmer has all to be thank ful for and nothing to fear. 0 FARM LABOR SCARCE. As was to have been expected, there is now a grea scarcity of farm labor in Lexington County. We know a number of farmers who have been forced to keen their favorite sanies and horses is the stable for the reason that there is no one to work them in harness. We know in some instances, too, where the women are g?ing ont into the fields to help their husbands till the soil?women who heretofore hare remained in the home and cared for their chidren and looked after their domestic affairs. But the great war is being felt and the devoted women on the farm are doing splendid service. DR. J. B. GEORGE PASSES INTO BEYOND.
