Paris, Nov. 20.?Proof that anyone once having had influenza is immune from future attacks has been provided by the Academy of Medicine by Prof. C. Depler, head specialist * J- -U ? ? ? i at vai ae laxact; uu&^n.ai. His discovery was made by inoculating a volunteer patient with microbes of lagrippe during the epidem-i ic of 191S-19. A severe case was the result. A few weeks later the patient was again inoculated in the same way, but this time his system I successfully withstood the test and he was not ill. Since then the experiment has been made in a number of cafees, always with the same results. Dr. Depler believes that after an attack of influenza the system is so inoculated with millions of dead germs as to prevent the introduction of live ones.. Other Paris doctors, including Dujarrio, Riviere, Foneca and Magalhes, indorse the statement that ini fluenza of the type prevailing during and immediately following the great war, is a disease one cannot have x twice. Murder is Suspected. Mr. Hagood left Columbia late yesterday afternoon to return to his home 18 miles from here. Late last night his autobmobile was found beside the road just out of Columbia, and in the machine was found a scribbled note which read: "We got him and his money. Will find the body in the river." The missing man was known to have about $800 on his person. He attempted to deposit this at the bank here yesterday, but failed, as the banks close at noon on Saturday. A Chicago school teacher had what she thought was a perfectly beautiful idea?she .-required that her pupils should w^te for their daily exercise a brief account, of a base ball game. Xow one boy sat through the period assigned for the task wrapped in thought, while the others worked hard and turned in their narratives. After school had been dismissed the teacher went to the desk of the laggard. Very sternly said she: "I'll give you just five minutes to write that description. If it is riot done by that time I shall punish you!" ^ Whereupon the lad promptly concerned all his attention on the theme and at last, with joyful eagerness, he scratched a line on his tablet and handed it to the teacher. It read: "Ram?no game." " SWIXDLE GAME BI LLED. South Carolina !'armor Says Lost J 811,000 in Hots.
