Good Cotton Seed
Likely to Be Scarce
Says County A^ent
- Owing to the bad weather which
prevailed at picking time last season,
a great many of t he cot tom iteWl -Were
sb badly damaged as to be unfit for
planting purposes. Many timers had
not saved their planting seed before,
the bad season came on; therefore,
they arc* without their supply, or have
saved some of those, seed which were
partly damaged.
One of the mo<t important factors
in cotton production under boll wee
vil conditions is that we secure a good
stand fairly early; in order, to obtain
this it is necessary to plant approxi
mately one bushel of seed per ac re
that are sound. At this season o? the
year a great many farmers are inter
ested in securing new varieties of cot
ton .-ced that they have heard were
better than the types of cotton we now
have, or which they think might be
question nor doubted his position once;' t ,e Uer and want to try them. Tne re-

he did. They then railed to the negro
to wim nut and he replied that he*
could not. The men told him they
' would have* to leav.* him, as they were
wet and cold and had to find refuge
somewhere. They had gone only a
few yards when they heard the negro
hit the water. He, too, swam out-
safely and they walked on to Salley,
a distance of two miles. Friends' there
brought them on home.
After the water had subsided suf-
ficiently < n Thursday the car was
pulled out of the creek, almost com
pletely demolished. Mr. Porter and
the negro owe their e c cape to Mr.
Gocdwyn’s presence of mind.
