In a shooting scrape which took place Sunday afternoon, August 27th at the colored Baptist Church at Reynolds station, about six miles from Williston and about four miles from Blackville, two negroes are dead and the third is in the Barnwell jail seriously but not fatally wound ed. From what can be learned an argument started between Emmett Hughes, Charlie Mitchell and an other negro named Isaac Dyches. Mitchell claims that Hughe* shot and killed Dyche* and then shot him (Mitchell) in the shoulder, where upon he drew his pistol and killed .Hughe*. The inquest was hold over the two negroes Sunday night, fol lowing which Mitchail was arrested and lodged in jail. It to understood that other arrests may he made, as it to thought that more than these three took part ia the shooting. Hughe* lived ia WiUmtea sad the ether two mgree* lie aft near here. Trustees Have Secured Efficieat Faculty for Coming Session. Much enthusiasm will mark the opening of the Barnwell High School Monday, September 11th, and from all indicatons the most profitable term in thie history of the institor tion will be enjoyed. Barnwell has the best equipped school building in the State for the size of the town. It is of Spanish architecture, re sembling the Alamo, and is modem in every respect.
