CALHOUN ADVOCATES A NEW PLAN Bank Preaidant Would Buy Calvaa and . Supply Fanner* on Credit, Col. Harry, D. Calhoun, president of the Home Bank of Barnwell, has made the following suggestion to the State Department of Agriculture: “What do you think of the Home Bank buying, if it can, about five or ten carloads of young thorougbred heifers, say three to six months old, and let our fanners have two or three at actual cost, payable next fall; of course, they to secure the bank for the amount? As 1 see it, we are gradually losing sight of raising cattle, and the re ports are that it’s a fact throughout the states. “The mere encouragement of a thing of this kind would be, to my mind, a great incentive to the farmers that they may see the importance of the enter prise. ‘ If you are in touch with cattle rais ers, that 1 may correspond with them, and you think the idea a eood one, the chances are that our bank will embark in the enterprise.” AthUtgk N*w» ItMua.
