Syracuse, NT. Y., Sept. 15. ? Jimmiei Murphy, of Vernon, Cal., favored to win the national racing championship of the American Automobile Associa tion for 1921, and veteran of many | an automobile speed classic, both in tfiis country and abroad, met his death on the State Fair grounds track here this afternoon, when his car crashed through a wooden fence on a curve during the 138th lap of the 150- mile race. Murphy survived the accident only a few minutes, long enough to be taken to a hospital in this city, six miles away, but he never regained consciousness. He was the only on his .deathbed in London, t is be pened on the ivi^UIe of the track.
