OUr Chri itinas has boon all sorts uY a Christmas, Our friends si?nt u* lots of good things from every <li- ) root ion, and the C hildren enjoyed them so much. At our Thanksgiving program, we budded iour Christmas tree with the wishes of. the ehildren. Kiftoe.n of our hoys and girls, among other things, fished for Bibles,, and not one of our friends thought to send a Hihlc. Our children are taught I to try and try, and if they don't succeed to try again so they are yet , wishing for Hiblcs, Just in the midst ol our morn J ment, the flu stepped in, and seized about -10 of us, including the super intendent, his entire family, and the youngcut baby in the Hume. ' We have had an awful seigc, one little thrrr yonr old girt is ynt in the Hns pital with pneumonia, and we are sorry to say that she is not doing so well. Hut there is yet a sn ider story to our Christmas. Will it do 'to tell sad stories at Christmas times? 1 Would not tell it, but 1 believe (he public tsj^fnc to know the facts of any and all public inst iTutions. While our children wore enjoying their toys and goodies, the .superintendent re ceived a letter uith an application. T. B. BRUCE Veterinarian l.yltlHon St., Phone 11* CAMDEN, S. C. DR. G. C. McCaskill Huriucl. ? A** ? * ' ? On last Sunday morning at about 11:,jU o'clock, while the family of J. A. McCaskill were in attendance up on the services at the Presbyterian church, their home on South' Cleve land street caught fire on the kitchen roof and being fanned by a fierce wind which was blowing at the time, tin* flames spread rapidly and soon enveloped the entire building. When first discovered by a member of the family of H. II. Truoadel, wha lives nt the west end of the same block, immediately back of the McCaskill home, the blaze was just starting, but it. was some time before water was gotten, on the building's and the pres sure was not sufficient at tin1 start to subdue the flames. I? was only a , very short time, however, after the alarm was given, until a large crowd assembled and carried nearly all the furniture^from the burning building, but the home was burned completely the ground. The building was two stories and was constructed of best material and was one of the best l>ui!l homes in the town. The home of C. I,. I)ye, very near and also two stories, was saved with much diffi culty, a* the wind was blowing the flames all t time almost directly towards it. Several bales of cotton on the the cotton platform caught fire from falling embers, and were rolled' from the platform after being burned over. Three of the ware houses along the railroad also caught but were promptly given attention and the* fire on them extinguished. Mr. McCaskill's loss is' jiot less than about ?r?,()no, and it is doubtful it' the h'Uiv ran be duplicated with like materials, and certainly not for* th?- figures named. The amount of insurance carried was about three fourth value. Kershaw Kra. Honor Roll For Malvern Hill. First (J rade? Lucille Robinson, Horace Hall.
