Ills memory will ever remain fresh in the hearts of his comrades and the people of Kershaw county. Mr. Connelly Arrives in Camden. Mr. W. P. Connelly of Charlotte. N. C. arrived in Camden oil last' Mon day to make Camden his home. Mr. Council,^ is interested in the Camden Iron and Brass Works which will 1m? in operation within the next few w<?eks. The other parties interested in the new enterprise are Mr. < '. C. Shaw and Mr. Lane C. Shaw of Columbia. Bdtli of these gentlemen are exported to here at an early date. The building tot~ 'the Camden Iron and Brass Works is now almost com plete. ami Mr. Connelly stated that no time would bo lost in fixing up the equipment after the building was com pleted. In fact, tlie largest part of the equipment has already arrived. Focal police officers *tnte he has been identified by a man living in Tampa, who had formerly made his home in South Carolina, and knew Vaughn. The man's wife, who was brought to Tampa, and held in the detention room for investigation by the local officers, was foiled in ;m attempt to end her .life also tonight. The police say the woman about S o'clock to night suddenly grabbed a pocket knife out of one of her pockets and started to slash her throat. S1io was prevented from accomplishing her act by Detective Stansell. According to the officer, the woman took the knife from J?er pocket and hesitated for several minutes, seemingly taking the time to arouse courage to carry out her plans. She was caught just as she started to jab the knife Into her throat. ~'Fhe woman Is >aiil to have told the jxilice officer* fhnt she was a nurse at the State Hospital for tlie Insane in Colombia , S. C., when she first met Karl. Further, she, is alleged, told the officers that she knew E?rl had never bern insane and that lie was guilty of the charges he is accused of.
