Vunt Minerva Sunuuervilie, an old time colored woman, died very sudden ly at the Baum residence Tuesday even ing. She was about eighty years ^f age and luid been in the eanploy o? the Baum family for about forty years. .-She was formerly the servant of Dr. Simon Baruch, now of New York city, aud was the faithful nurse of Mr. Bernard Baruch when a lud. Mr, Barueli never forgot his old colored friend and every month favored her with a substantial remittance for spending money in her old age.. The funeral of the old woman was held Thursday afternoon. Charged With Forging Cheek. It. H. Bell, a young man of near Kershaw, was taken into custody in this city Wednesday, being charged with forg ing the name of It. L. While Fred Ryan, white, a fed 30, was mau ran, but a shot in the air stopped him. He then, according to the guard, advanced in a threatening attitude, and McDanlel, fearing an attack, shot him four times. Two bullets entered the body. Ryan was from Hartford, Conn. His relatives have been notified. trying to escape from the Florence chain Kanj? he was shot and killed by H. A. M<cDaniel, a guard. Ryan was serving a thirty-day sentence for vagrancy. He stole away from the camp and secreted himself in a ditch. The guard located him and oall(*d on him to come out.
