Mr. .laniOK Adams had his arm caught in Mr. AV. 10. Roberts' gin la?t Saturday, about 12 o'clock. The arm was horribly mangled to the shoulder. The physician arrived at Mr. Adams' home about 15 o'clock and amputated the injured arm an hour later, but the loss of blood, combined with complications arising from tlu? shock.' made it impossible tor him to rally strength and he died Sunday night about Mr. Adams was 42 years of age. He is one of the old time darkies and Is a. credit to his race. - l?olk Miller I>eud. l'olk Miller, a Richmond business man, known thruout the South for his plantation stories of war times and his performances on the banjo at many Confederate reunions, died suddenly- at his home at Richmond, Va., Monday night. He was G9 years old. In late years Mr. Miller had been pressed into service by the cham ber of commerce to help entertain 30 or 4 0 national' organizations which held their annual conventions in Richmond. With a banjo he fre quently accompanied his "darkey quartet" and related many original and amusing stories in the negro dialect. lie appeared in nearly every Southern state, often with Colonel Tom Hooker, another Confederate soldier. For 3 0 years or inoje he travel ed over the South, but seldom ap peared out of that territory, because as he explained, Ins dialect stories elsewhere were hot understood.
