BOYS' CORN CONTEST. & For two years the Hoys' Corn Contest has held its corn contest in connection with the County Fair. ?We believe that this arrangement lias been mutually bene ficial and caused the members of the' Corn > Contest to take a greater interest in the % annual contest and exhibits crowning their year's efforts^ and we think that this f feature of the Fair has been a very attractive one to the public. The sea son for growing a record yield of com has been very unfavorable, yet a goodly number of com club members have grown good crops and the outlook for a fine ex* hibit is bright. . The rules governing the contest are the same as last year. Members of the Boys' Corn Club will be admitted free as here tofore. Through public subscriptions we are enabled to offer the following prizes: j 1st prize, greatest yield per acre. .$20.00 2nd prize, second greatest yield per acjjp 1&JOO 3rd prize, third greatest yield per acre* 10.00 4th prize, fourth greatest yield per acre.. . 5.00 5th prize, fifth greatest yield per acre 5.00 1st prize, best profit on investment. 10.00 2nd prize, best profit on investment 5.00 3rd prize, best profit on investment. 5.00 1st prize, best history of crop. . . . 5.00 ; 2nd prize, best history of crop. . . . 2.00 ? ' j Miss Katherine Chappell, of Tjyfcesland, Kichland County, South Carolina, was sent as demonstration agent andHhas ren dered most excellent service. The work was started too late in the year for best results, and 'weather conditions during the summer proved so unfavorable that half ftf ? ' became discouraged and gave up the effort to make a crop. Those who hare continued to the end have done remark ably well under tjie circumstances. Some of them, in spite of the late start and the unfavorable weather, have attained really wonderful results. It has been decided to hold a GirlsT Tomato Club exhibit in coin 3 nection with the County Fair. Those - girls who have kept up the work as mem bers of the club to tne end will be ad mitted free . to the entire Fair. They can get lodges . from Mr, McKeniie on the opening day of the Fair. All exhibits by members of the Girls* Tomato Chib must be brought to the Fair Grounds on the^ day before the ooening of the Fair. PRIZE LIST.
