Rowan nt six o'clock on last Wednesday af ternoon. The contracting pttrlie* were our highly esteemed friend Mr. Paul Brown and Miss Collina Poteat a charming jouDg lady of Marion, N.C , who for oome time has been teaching the Stockton school. The marriage was witness ed by only a few iutermate friends. After the ceremony a reception was tendered the young couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. K.A Brown. After an evening most pleasanty passed in a social manner the groom took his prize to his c zy home which needed only her quern ly presence to oomplete it. It is u pleasure to chronicle the marrUge of such worthy young poople and this paper extends to thena i?n warmest congratulations. Betbune Item^ We arc having dry weather, though raining about every day. Where cotton was planted early, good elands have been secured, but the later planted in corning ?p very slowly, owing to the dry weather. Notwith standing the high price of cotton, many of our more progressive farm era havo planted liberally of corn, thus doing their part towards keep ing jUp. \5hi!? vrvr ing their best to reduce the price by the all cotton plan. Oats in many instances are almost a failure, owing to tho dry weather. ?' Col. J I. Thompson, of Troy, Tex will visit fiiends and relatives in South Carolina during the summer Col.
