He was one of the moat prominent physicians fn tbe State Medical As sociation and bjs scholarly essays op bn the consumptive poor, and other kindred subjects have been left by him as a rich legaoy to bis profession. As a member of the Association, hit great big sympathetic heart went out to the poor and friend less, and by the use of persuasion, argument and earnest appeal to those in authority, he succeeded in alleviating the suffer ings of the Inmates of the asylam and penitentiary, and was inslrty* mental in causing to be adopted bet ter sanitary arrangements, thereby checking the ravages of disease.
