Columbia, Sept. 9 ? The first three Boers to ooiue here under the depart ment of Imuiigratiou arrived in the city this morning and reported to Commissioher Watson. All three of thorn arc well educated, present a good appearance and woro at once placed on a farm in Sumter County. Among the other immigrants who arrived was a iyit|ye of the West In dies, W. H. ^Wuister, who will be placed in Aikcu county, and two Scotchman, who will go to Green wood. These two last came direct from Scotland and were routed from Glasgow to (-oluQibia. They stated that on the steamer coming over were over 1,000 natives for thin country and Canada. , . ? ? m< Death of Kev. A. B. Earle. Again has our community been called upon to mourn over the death ot a prominent man aqd * devoted christian gentleman. The Rev. A. B. E?rle who with his fam ily had endaared himself to the people of Camden died at the Meth* odist parsonage on Tuesday last at 1 o'clock after acveral months of patient suffering and christian re signation. lie was born ,-irhile hi* parents were refugees in Greenville, 8. C., on the 4-th of February, 1865., aud spent his early liffo in Charleston, S. C., and entered WBf ford College where he graduated in 1887, and during the same year was married to Miss Carrie Kirby, of Spartanburg who with eight ohildrcn, is left to mourn a devoted huaband and loving Father. Only 39 years of nge Mr. {Carle had al ready done faithful service in his Master's Vioeyard having ^>een for -eoventecn year* in the Methodist Conference of South Carolina. A handsome, g*nia', educated man he mado friends wherever he was stationed aud neither his church nor his State can afford to lose men of his gentlo and winning type of character. To his bereaved family no words of sympathy can yet alle ; viate their affliction but God "who doeth all things well" will in His own good time bring consolation to their hearts. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to them and prayers are offered from many hearts for the grief stricken widow and orphans. The funeral services wore held ob Wedaeaday Afternoon at 4 o'clock mi the Littleton Street Uethodiat Church of which had been the faithful Pastor for the past three year*, and were conducted by the Rev.'H.
