New York, Feb. 12.?In honor t>f Charles Darwin, the famous English scientist, who was born on the same day as Abraham Lincoln, the scientists of New York assembled in the American Museum of Natural History today. The program of the centennial included the presentation of a bust of Darwin to the museum and addresses setting forth the relations of his worjc to various sciences. The bust was given to the museum by the New York Academy of Sciences, the president of the academy, Charles F. Cox, making the presentation address. Blggers, also a well known citizen. The shooting was the most sensational erer occurring In Charlotte. The tragedy was enacted on the side walk 4b front of the Central hotel, in the very heart of the city, and was (^3 witnessed by several hundred people. Four shots were fired by Diggers, three taking effect in the head, the fourth barely missing a negro hack driver.
