Foster of Clinton at the A.R.P. Church in Clinton. The Rev. Zeb Williams, pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony at three o’clock on Saturday, Dec. 13. The bride is the daughter of the late L. Huckabee Simpson and the late Louise Patterson Simpson of Abbeville. The groom is the son of the late Samuel C. Foster and Mrs. Bessie Foster of Clinton. The bride wore a street length dress of blue silk lace over peau- de soie with matching veil and shoes. Her only jewelry was a strand of pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of white mums and roses. Mrs. Richard D. Watts, her only attendant, was matron of honor. Mrs. Watts is a sister of the groom. She wore a blue dress of pure silk with a jewel neck line. Her corsage matched that of the brides. The groom chose for best man Richard D. Watts, his brother- in law. A reception was given in the couples home by Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Watts. Mrs. Phyliss Hunter, niece of the groom, presided at ilie punch bowl. Mrs. Darrell Godfrey served at the bride’s table, serving the three tiered wedding cake, with a minature bride and groom to add to the decorations. After a short honeymoon the couple will be at home to their many friends in Clinton Manor on Carolyn Drive. UDC To Meet The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the U.D.C. held its December meeting at the Calvary Baptist Church. Under the direction of Mrs. Eva Land, the Bell Ringers of Calvary most graciously en tertained the group with Christmas music in the sanctu ary of the church. After the music, members were invited into the social hall of the churchwhere a short meet ing was held. After the ritual, pledge to flags and prayers, Mrs. Hugh Bonds Workman gave the reaamg on Secession. It was decided that the January meeting would be held on Friday Jan. 2, rather than on the usual Thursday date. The meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. M. C. Poole on E. Maple Street. After singing Dixie the group enjoyed a social hour. Refresh ments of sandwiches, cookies, cheese straws and Russian tea were served by the hostesses who effectively carried out the Christmas motif. The bridegroom, a graduate of Presbyterian College, attends Emory University Medical School. The bride teaches in De- Kalb County, having received her education from Converse College and Florida State Unltersity. The bridegroom’s parents live at 300 Hickory St. in Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Gettys will live at 1876 Angelique Drive in De catur, Ga., after a wedding trip to the Gulf coast of Florida. A new quarterly survey by the Census Bureau reveals: There were 70 million cars in use last July, an increase of four mill ion in a year’s time. The bride’s pastor,Rev. Joseph H. Darr, officiated at the double ring ceremony. A special program of wedding music was presented by Bient Howard Hol comb of Clinton and Furman Uni versity. Creating a nuptial setting in the sanctuary were tiered brass can delabra holding lighted white ta pers on both sides of the pul pit. A mass arrangement of white chrysanthemums, gladioli and starburst pompoms was used in the center. Magnolia foliage add ed effectively to the church de corations. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John David Edenfield of 701 Prather Circle in Clinton. A 1968 Mathematice - Secondary Education graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, N. C., the bride is a former member of the faculty of Clinton Junior High School. Currently, she is a grad uate assistant at Winthrop Col lege, Rock Hill. Given in marriage by her fa ther, John David Edenfield, the bride wore a formal gown of candlelight silk peau-de-soie with bell sleeves and Victorian neckline. The gown featured illu sion with alencon lace re embroidered in seed pearls on the neckline and bell sleeves. The gown had a bell shaped skirt with alencon lace motifs. The train was chapel length. The bride’s veil of candlelight French illusion was attached to a rosette of lace petals re-embroidered in seed pearls. The bride carried a modified cascade of white tiara roses and stephanotis inter spersed with pearl sprays and tendrils of minature English ivy. A strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom, was her only orna ment. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wayne Crain of Duncan Chapel Road in Greenville are parents of the groom. A graduate of Travelers Rest High School, he attended Florida State University. After a tour of duty with the United States Navy in the Florida Keys, the bridegroom joined the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Pre viously stationed in Clinton, he is now serving as a patrolman in Rock Hill Attending the groom as best man was his father, Fred Wayne Crain of Greenville. Ushers for the service were the groom’s brother, Douglas Wayne Crain of Greenville, the groom’s brother- in-law, Kenneth Carl Coleman of Travelers Rest, and Billy Rhodes of Clinton. Miss Ida Bessie Edenfield of Clinton was her sister’s maid of honor. She was attired in a floor length formal gown of red velvet featuring a berther collar. The gown was enhanced by an a-line skirt. Her costume was complet ed by a headpiece of matching velvet ribbon worn in the empire style. She carried a cascade of Friendship Pink glamellias. Jeffery Keith Coleman, nephew of the groom and son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carl Coleman of Travelers Rest, served as ring bearer for the couple. v Honorary attendants were Mrs. Kenneth Carl Coleman, sister of the groom of Travelers Rest, Miss Willa Linwood Pauline Cox of Clinton, Miss Jessie Cameron Dixon of Henderson, N. C., Miss Mary Kathryn Moffitt of Bre vard, N. C. and M;ss Kathnne Estelle Young ofHartsville. Each was remembered with a corsage of white Frenched carnations. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride entertained with a reception held in the fel lowship hall of the church. Mr. and Mrs. William Glenn Gainey of Fayetteville, N. C., presided at the register. The bride’s table was overlaid in white linen. A central ar rangement of white starburst pompoms and pink seventeen roses in a tall silver epergne was flanked on either side by a pair of three branched silver candelabra. A three-tiered wed ding cake touched with pink roses was served on one end of the table, while the punch was served on the other. After greeting their friends and relatives, the couple left on a wedding trip to Atlanta, Georgia. For traveling, the bride changed into a dress and coat of powder blue wool. The coat featured a wedding ringcollar of white mink. The bride’s accessories were white and she wore the corsage of roses lifted from Iter bridal bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Crain will make their hom^ at 703 MiltonAvenue, Rock Hill. * * * After the rehear sal on Saturday night, the wedding party was en tertained by the groom at the home of Mrs. S. P. Bowers. A buffet dinner was served. The de corations and floral arrange ments carried out the tone of the holiday season. * * * Mrs. Gary Holcomb and Mrs. Frank Simpson, Jr., were hos tesses at a brunch on Sunday morning before the wedding. Mrs. Char les Blackmon was hostess with Mrs. Copeland. Upon arrival, the young ladies were invited into the den for punch, afterwhich they entered the dining room for a buffet luncheon. Guests were seated at small tables in the living room where green and gold holiday decora tions were used. Miss Marilyn Fryfogle was honored Saturday at a debutante luncheon given by Mrs. George Blalock at her home on Broad St. Other debutantes of the sea son also attended. In the center of the dining room table was a debutante doll holding red sweetheart roses. Tiny lights circled the base of this unusual centerpiece. Mrs. Jeff D.
