Jackie hooper of Warner Robins AFB, aa., are spending the Thanksgiv ing holidays with his parents, Mr. ind Mrs. Tom B. Cooper. Lewis J. Hammet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hay Hammet of 110 East Maple St, has made the mid-semester honor roll as a senior at the 2,000-student Dan McCarty High School in Fort Pierce, Fla. He recorded an average of 92 while taking an overload of seven subjects under special permis sion and assisting in the guid ance center. Walter, Puntin and Walter Fisher Jr. visited Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Morgan Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Morgan spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hulon Howard and Chris at Greer, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phillips of Carretta, W. Va., spent a few days here with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Phillips. Mrs. Lucille Murphy of Burns ville, N. C., is spending the win ter here with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Phillips. First Lieutenant James L. Rit chie, IV, completed helicopter pi lot training school at Hunter Army Air Base, Savannah, Ga., Oct. 21. He was commissioned in regu lar ArmyatPresbyterianCollege in May 1968 and was assigned to the Medical Service Corps. Lt. Ritchie left Nov. 21 for Vietnam for a tour of duty. Mrs. Ritchie and infant daughter, are residing in Gffefrivfrood wherd she will complete,' '-degree re quirements at Lander College. Miss Rebecca Reynolds of At lanta, Ga., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Reynolds. Mr. Frank Simpson Sr., is ill with the flu at his home at 202 N. Adair Street. Freddy Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ray, left Tuesday for Lackland AFB, Texas where he will be stationed with the U. S. Air Force for six weeks basic training. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Chandler Jr. and daughters, Jan and Beth of Atlanta, Ga. will spend Thanks giving holidays with his mother, Mrs. J. Austin Chandler Sr. Guy Walden of Mercer Univer sity will spend Thanksgiving with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Southall, 106 Young Drive. Misses Carol Perry, Debra Mills and Nancy Jones spent the weekend at Western Carolina University as guests of Miss Ginnie Edwards of High Point, N. C. and Edward Perry of Clin ton, students at the University. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Edward Perry, Sr. arrived for the day for a visit with Eddie. S. A. Roddy McAllister, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McAllister has finished a course in survi val training at Daisville, R. L and has been sent to Danang, Vietnam on Nov. 11. * * * On Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Mrs. Sidney Brewer, who is the former Susan Meredith, was hon ored with a household shower at the Clinton Community Building. Honoring her were Naomi Moore, Gladys Polston and Gladys Hughes. The bride received many lovely and useful gifts. Miss Susan Meredith and Mr. Sidney Brewer were married on Nov. 8 in Walhalla by Probate The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Meredith and the groom is the sen of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Brewer. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin DeYoung spent Sunday atClemsonwithMr. and Mrs. J. C. Hubbart. While there they toured Clemson and the Duke Power Plant. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cleaver and children of Elberton, Ga., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muller. Edwin G. Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Sloan, of this city, was recently promoted to the grade of Staff Sergeant E6. SSG Sloan, who is assigned to the U. S. Army Signal Research Unit 20, Tehran, Iran, is completing a four-year enlistment in the U. S. Army Security Agency. LADIES TOURNEY WINNERS—Trophies were presented winners and runners-up in the recently completed Ladies Annual Championship Golf Tournament at a luncheon held at Lakeside Club The tournament was sponsored by the Ladies Golf Association of Lakeside. Left to right, seated: Mrs. Stokes Cantrell, runner-up in the first flight with 168, and Mrs. Carolyn Childress, runner-up in the second flight with a score of 186. Standing: Golf Pro Earl Tinsley, Mrs. Peggie Neal, first flight winner with a score of 166; Mrs. Sue Brownlee, winner of the championship flight with a score of 150; and Mrs. Norma Fryfogle, of Clinton, winner of the second flight with a score of 186. Mrs. Margaret Copeland, runner-up in the championship flight with a score of 162, was not present when the photo was taken. Arthur Watson Is Featured In New Album Arthur M. Watson, well-known Washington baritone soloist, is featured artist on a stereophonic album consistingof four religious selections. The selections on the recently- released record are: “I Am So Grateful,’ “The Lord’s Prayer," “Lord I Adore Thee," and “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.* A native of Clinton, Mr. Wat son began singing publicly at an early age and was widely known as the boy with the golden voice. He is a member of the radio choir of Bibleway Pentecostal Church and has been presented in numerous recitals throughout the metropolitan Washington area. Mr. Watson studied under the talented Madame Mattie Shelton, the dramatic coloratura; William Webster Vocal Studio and Dr. Franz Hetzel, former conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orches tra. The Auxiliary of the Loyal Or der of Moose is called “The Wo men of the Moose” and it is the aim of the Auxiliary to aid the Loyal Order of Moose, child city, “Moose heart "and “Moose haven’ home for the aged. The ClintonChapter of The Wo men of the Moose is the largest of two chapters in South Carolina. The other chapter is in George town. The women assist the men at the social and family gatherings such as family dinners, games and dances. They also help with money making projects such as steak suppers on dance night, making stews, and fish fries as well as money making projects of their own. It is not unusual to see the Clinton Women of the Moose gathering clothing and cohducting rummage sales. They also sell items ranging from napkins to candy and the newest item this year are candles.
