Mr. and Mrs. Perry Parrish, Misses Tami Parrish and Debbie Bennett visited Six Flags Over Georgia and attended the Braves - Mets ball game during a recent weekend in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Charles Harvey and Miss Beth Harvey are spending the week in Anchorage, Ohio with S/Sgt. and Mrs. Jessie Harvey. WEEKEND AT BEACH Misses Susan Meeks, Pam and Cathy Brown, Laura Darby, Gloria Cato, Priscilla Gaskins and Bootsie Oswalt spent the weekend at Ocean Drive Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South and Mike were Sunday guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy South in Whitmire. They alsovisit- ed her brother, Frank James and family in Whitmire. Mrs. Fred Bodie, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pitts and Donny with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Berry, Mike and Kay of Fork Shoals vacationed at Crescent Beach several days last week. “Scooter’’ White is spending two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Whitmire. His mother, Mrs. Allen White has returned to their lakeside home on Lake Greenwood, where the family is residing for the sum mer following an illness at Bailey Memorial Hospital. SFC and Mrs. Coy O’Shields and children of Manasses, Va., are visiting her mother, Mrs. Stella McLendon and sister, Mrs. Jim Bailey and with his relatives in Whitmire, having been called home due to the critical illness of his mother, Mrs. Rosa Wil banks of Whitmire. Mrs. Robert Bailey and children of Anderson also spent Sunday with Mrs. Bai ley and Mrs. McLendon. They all attended the Presbyterian Church Sunday morning for the Ordina tion of the Elders and then all attended the Harris reunion at the Long Branch Community Building. Mrs. Mach Harris also attended the reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lawton and children of Orangeburg, spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. M. A. Forrester and Mr. Forrester, coming for Mr. Lawton’s birth day dinner. They also visited her mother, Mrs. J. B. Patterson and Mr. Patterson. Mr. and Mrs. Lawton and Mrs. Forrester also visited Mrs. Neil Ballew in the Laurens Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tram mell, Miss FerolineSeayandMr. and Mrs. Melvin Seay, Teresa and Maxie attended the Seay get- together on Tuesday evening, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sloan Southerlin. Mrs. Kenneth Tram mell and children, who attended from Anderson accompanied the Trammell’s home for a few days. They were Joined here by Mr. Trammell on Friday and returned home on Saturday. OnSunday, the Clyde Trammells, Miss Seay and Mrs. Royce Smith of near Lau rens visited their aunt, Mrs. Laura Kirby in Horse Shoe,N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Oakley and family of Greenville were recent visitors of his mother, Mrs. Sid ney Oakley. Mr. and Mrs. Billy McGee and family vacationed several days last week in Florida seeing many interesting sights. Mrs. Clayton Reece and grand daughter, Leslie Shook and Mrs. Maxie Davis and sons, Charles and Willard visited Mr. and Mrs. Botts in Abbeville Saturday. Debbie and Joy Ginn of Foun tain Inn are spending the week with their grandmother, Mrs. Claude Willard. Mrs. Claude Willard, Billy Willard and Mrs. Maxie Davis and Willard were in Greenwood Sun day due to the death of their niece and cousin, Mrs. Frances Proctor. Mrs. Willard, Mr. Wil lard, Mrs. Fred Patterson and Debbie and Joy Ginn returned to Greenwood Monday for the fun eral of Mrs. Proctor. PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN NAMED ELDERS At the Ordination service for the new elders ofthe Lydia Pres byterian Church on Sunday, Aug. 17, a first in the South Caro lina Presbyterian Churches took place when Rev. Afterward the ladies held a short business session. The September meeting will be a tour of the Laurens Glass Plant on Thursday, Sept. 18. Air Force Technical Sergeant Wayne Powers, son of Mrs. Boyce W. Powers of 413 N. Maple St, Simpsonville, is on duty at Tuy Hoa AB, Vietnam. Sergeant Powers, a command post specialist with a unit of the Pacific Air Forces, previously served at McGuire AFB, N.J. He is a graduate of Woodruff High School.
