Celebrates Birthday Stating Party Id celebration of her eleventh birthday which was Saturday, 86, Mary- Bailey Vance, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert M. Vance invited a few Mends to the rink far a skating party on Friday afternoon. After skating they returned to the honoree’s home for refresh ments. The pink and white birth day cake with lighted candles was cut and served witfe cold drinks. The receiving line was composed of the honored couple and the host and hostess along with Mrs. E. W. Bruson of Chester, and Mrs. J. A. Park er of Montclair, N. J., sisters of E. C. Wolfe, Mr. Brunson and a grandson, Jimmie Wolfe. Inviting guests into the hall was Joe F. Smith, Jr. At the guest register was Mrs. Jasper P. Rowland of this city. Mr! and Mrs. Morris J. Crump greeted guests in the dining room, where Mrs. Fred Medlock and Mrs. Joe F. Smith, Jr., served refresh ments. Assisting were Misses daughters of the coupla; Miss Mary Frances Abrams, of Ches ter, grand-niece, and Miss Bren- day Baldwin. Mr. and Mrsj, Emmett Brun son, Jr., of Chester, invited guests into the living room where their daughter, Miss Marcia Brunson, pinned on favors. Gold and white decorations were featured throughout the home. The dining room table, covered with a gold satin cloth with a white net over skirt, was centered with a three tiered wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe were mar ried on Sunday, December 84, 1911. She is the former Mary Louise Easterling. Wessinger Children Celebrate Birthdays Dessert Bridge For Tuesday Club Mrs. J. B. Templeton was hos tess for a dessert bridge this week for members of her Tues day club. Mrs. Eugene King was a guest, playing for an absent member. Dessert, coffee and nuts were served at the two tables prettily appointed in a setting of greenery and seasonal arrangements. At' the conclusion of the pro gressions score award was pre sented to Mrs. C. E. Law. Derek and Karen Wessinger, son and daughter of Dr. and Mrs Carl Wesinger, celebrated birth days during the week. Karen, %ho was four on Fri day, the 29th, invited eight little neighborhood playmates for an afternoon party. After outdoor games the birthday cake was cut and *served with other party refreshments. A circus motif cover was used for the refresh ment table and the pink cake was adorned with a clown. Derek observed his sixth birth day yesterday, January 8, with a party at the Presbyterian Church Kindergarten. The thirty-six children enjoyed singing “Happy 1 Birthday" and refreshments of cookies, ice cream, candies and gum. The birthday cake was decorated in a cow body theme. Compliment Parents With Informal Party In compliment to Mrs. Holder- man’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Atkinson, of Kansas . City, Mo., who wen visiting ban, Lt. Col. and Mrs. William F. Holder- man entertained with a drop-in on Friday evening at their home on Cedar Street. In the living room and den magnolia leaves, poinsettias and holly were beautifully arranged with an open Are adding to the den setting. Red gladioli and lighted red tapers adorned the refreshment table from which punch, sandwiches, and petits- fours were served. Assisting in entertaining and serving for the informal occasion were the Holderman’s daugh ters, Lois and Janice, Sharon Fakkema and Nora Oeland. Drop-In Friday •Honors Visitors Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler honored their week-end guests. Miss Patricia Blackmon and Jim Blackmon of Columbia, with a drop-in at their home on South Broad street. About twenty-five friends were invited to meet the out of town visitors and enjoyed an informal evening during which refresh ments were served in buffet style in the dining room. In keeping with other holiday arangements a pink candle encircled With greenry and pink ornaments cen tered the refreshment table Punch and coffee were served with sandwiches, assorted dain ties and sweets. Assisting in entertaining and serving were Mrs. Lucius Burns of Mountville, and Mrs. George R. Blalock. Entertain Family At Dinner Here Mr. and Mrs. Bonner Harvley, of Greenwood, were hosts to the latter's family for a post holi day dinner at Vernon’s here on Dec. 36.
